How to book a Villa?

Shopgirl1 · 30/03/2024 20:19

Looking to book a small Villa in Spain or the Balearic Islands. Who do people recommend booking through? I’ve looked at Villa Plus - are they reputable? Are there other companies people would recommend?

We've used Villa plus and James villas

SpicyNoodleSoup · 30/03/2024 20:29

I have booked through Vrbo several times. Never had any issues and always lovely properties.

TamzinGrey · 30/03/2024 20:37

We've used Vintage Travel several times. Lovely villas and good customer service.

We always use villa plus and have done for about 20 years, my parents used it when I was a teen and I’ve continued to use now I have my own family

@dementedpixie unfortunately, James Villas ceased trading in late 2023.

Very disappointing - we'd used them since the early 2000s and had always had exceptional properties and service from them

Mumblechum0 · 30/03/2024 21:56

Plum Guides. They’re very fussy about which properties they accept, but the website is q annoying.

i also use VRBO

Be careful of scam websites with apparently amazing prices. There are some that say "You can pay us through Airbnb, it's secure, look, here's the guarantee", and indeed Airbnb does offer a service whereby your payment is safe — but then the scammers send you to a cloned site with an address like alrbnb.com or airbmb.com and you don't notice.

We use VillaPlus, and they've always been reliable. Quite expensive compared to some, but good quality villas, and there's a local rep. Any minor issue have always been sorted quickly.

We've also used local holiday letting agents in past - again, always been fine. But they can be harder to find online.

I’ve used vbro and vidavillas.
I would always booked with a credit card. We once booked a villa in Majorca with a company we had used and been happy with several times previously. It went bust about 6 weeks before we were due to fly out. People who had booked by credit card all got refunded immediately- it was much harder if you’d booked by debit card

I have used Villa Plus a few times. However I am avoiding using them again as they sneakily have stopped showing (and even collecting) reviews.

gettingolderbutcooler · 31/03/2024 10:45

Vintage travel is fabulous!!

PinkPondQueen · 31/03/2024 10:45

What's wrong with Airbnb? I've used them twice a year for a good few years now and have never had any issues. Stayed in some seriously stunning villas and apartments for a very good price.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 01/04/2024 21:44

We normally use VRBO.

Shopgirl1 · 01/04/2024 22:36

Thanks for all the suggestions. Found and booked today thanks to the help here.

I use hоtellook.com and also book directly through the villa accommodation so I would just search and see what is best suiting you.

PickledMuffin · 02/04/2024 19:12

We used to always book James Villas but they've been acquired and since then they haven't had the same amount of villas available. So now we book with Air BNB. Great places and reasonable prices.
