Missing passports

Elderly parents due to travel to Mexico Monday & tell me today the can't find their passports. They definitely had them when booking as they renewed them last year. Is there any chance of them travelling still? I'm not feeling hopeful but my poor mum & Dad are distraught.

Are you able to go over to help them.look? Is the house generally organised? Realistically, they probably do have them and if the house isn't too chaotic then Monday isn't too far away to find them. It's too close to renew though.

When we lost ours they had fallen down the back of the drawer in the filing cabinet, if that's any help!

Icecoldtulip · 30/03/2024 13:07

Did they check in online? If so it may remind them where they put the passports after doing that.

Scarletttulips · 30/03/2024 13:07

They need a better look

Bags coat pockets back of drawers

shoppingshamed · 30/03/2024 13:10

Of course you can't travel without passports😮

They won't be lost though, misplaced somewhere in the house, you need someone who is good at looking to go round and help them

Spencer0220 · 30/03/2024 13:12

No passport no travel.

They need to turn house upside down. They have time

SpringOfContentment · 30/03/2024 13:44

They need to find them in order to travel.
So, house needs turning upside down.

When did they last have them?

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 30/03/2024 13:47

Do you mean is there a chance of them travelling still if they can't find them? If so, no definitely not.

If you mean is there a chance they'll find them, sure, they'll just need to keep looking.

PickledPurplePickle · 30/03/2024 14:18

There is no chance of travelling if they can't find them, no

aintnospringchicken · 30/03/2024 14:48

Absolutely no chance of them travelling without passports.
Help them look for them by systematically thoroughly checking every room in the house.Check under and behind every piece of furniture, down the sides of every sofa and chair, behind cushions, check every bookshelf, pull out every drawer to check contents and make sure nothing has dropped down the back.Check every pocket of every coat and jacket and check every handbag, sports bag etc.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 30/03/2024 15:11

Does your mum have a “best” handbag?
Do they have a printer/scanner?

LIZS · 30/03/2024 15:21

Have they had them recently for id or to enter api?

LipstickLil · 30/03/2024 15:22

If they can't find them, then no, they aren't going anywhere!

ouch321 · 30/03/2024 15:24

Search the house, one room at a time staring with the lounge. Pull out sofa, remove drawers etc.

Icecoldtulip · 31/03/2024 13:08

Have they found them @Turtlerunner

Axx · 31/03/2024 13:44

I hope they've found them. Mexico is a fantastic place.

Mumof1andacat · 31/03/2024 13:58

Just go through everything. All folders, files, boxes, drawers and cupboards. Also underneath and behind furniture.

Clearinguptheclutter · 31/03/2024 14:02

I once lost my passport just before a holiday and basically couldn’t go. However it did turn up months later having fallen behind a cupboard

go round and help. Ask them when they definitely saw them last. If they did early online check in it could have been then?

TotalDramarama24 · 31/03/2024 14:28

Maybe they put them in the suitcase already? In that big inside zipped flap? Are they with any money or currency they keep in the house? Do they have a special travel bag they use for flights?

TheRulerofThings · 31/03/2024 19:57

Any sign OP?

One of ours went missing and we eventually found it on the printer - someone forgot to remove it after scanning.

liveforsummer · 01/04/2024 07:34

Did they find them OP? I completely lost mine once, only after I'd renewed did find it on a shelf where I'd slid it between the wall and the folded clothes stored there.
