Hello! We are putting together our summer holiday to Sri Lanka and are hoping to go visit the Maldives for 4 days of rest and relaxation at the end. We are looking to book with Travelbag who have recommended Kuredu and I have noticed a few people on here have recommended it in the past. I just wanted you to know check if people think it meets our brief-

We want somewhere with other families- our son is 12 and we don’t just want to be with honeymooning couples.
We accept our budget is midrange (one can but dream of an overwater bungalow with its own slide direct into the sea!)
We want a decent AI so there are no hidden costs- we want to make sure snacks on the day like ice lollies are included.
We want a range of restaurants, including a la carte at times- the thought of eating buffet in the same place twice a day would be too much
We would like good snorkelling- I know some resorts have their own reefs.
We want a shorter transfer time- our flights leave to the UK from Male at 10am.
Bookable with Travelbag

I’ve also looked at Oblu Xperience Ailafushi, as they do a two bedroom ocean view room. We know our budget doesn’t stretch to 2 bed villas/ bungalows but these look a really affordable compromise.

Do people think that Kuredu would fit our brief or do you think we should look elsewhere? And if so, where?

kuredu has a kids club and lots of teenagers and kids generally.
I wouldn’t go for their cheapest bungalow, they have old furniture and are very dark. We upgraded to a mid range one (can’t remember the name maybe Premium Beach Villa).
AI includes everything incl ice cream at buffet, I never seen a resort in Maldives with ice lollies. (Been four times). Everything comes from Male and further away and costs a ton to ship to the islands. House reef is very good, lots of turtles.

I have not used the other restaurant, the buffet has different themes every day and that was plenty of variety for us (and our kids were younger).

shorter transfer time - not sure what you mean? Transfer is by sea plane, you can’t have it any shorter unless you choose a resort closer to Male and take a speedboat.

Thank you for that really helpful reply! We have had a quote for a premium beach villa. There are two types of all inclusive- which would you recommend? Are there time limits on water sports? Some resorts allow you to use equipment for 15 minutes a day!

Yes the Premium beacb villas are ok and directly on the beach. The beach villas are not despite the name!
the limit on water sports is 1 hour per day. I think we had the better AI package, but can’t remember what the difference was. Generally everything on the island costs a ton so I prefer to pay in advance and then not to worry if a kid wants another smoothie etc

you will drink a lot during the day, it’s very hot and humid.

Snorkelling lesson is also worth it, they will show you where and when to snorkel to see turtles and more.
