Anyone been to Hong Kong in early June … worried weather will just be constantly raining.

It will be very hot and humid, it does rain but it’s warm rain. It’s the the middle of the typhoon season so you could be unlucky. I lived there for two years in the 80’s. I went back five years ago, it’s still a fantastic place to visit.

We've been at the end of May and it wasn't constantly raining but when it rains it really rains!

I’ve been many times in June too. I don’t remember it raining that badly. It’s hot. I love the place. I haven’t been since Covid happened though.

Have you been post protests, the Chinese clampdown and pandemic?

GenerousGardener · 30/03/2024 21:56

@JackSpaniels five years ago, protests happening but didn’t see any trouble. Covid hadn’t happened. It has changed so much from where I was there in the 80’s.

I would be more worried about how hot and humid it will be! Didn't rain when I went there in June but you will be a ball of sweat. Luckily there are air-conditioned shopping centres everywhere!

I would say it depends on how long you are going for - 2 or 3 days you might be stuck in your hotel because when it rains it pours ! If you're going for longer you should be fine ! It is extremely humid then though .
Used to live there in the 80's and loved it, been back lots on holiday and still the best place in the world to me :) Went last year and still magical, going again this autumn ........

Hi there- I lived in HK until recently. Unfortunately while HK does technically have wet and dry(er) seasons they are somewhat unpredictable. May and June often seem to alternate so if one is wet the other is dry and vice versa, so it’s hard to say. it will be hot and humid regardless.

I went in early June - was overcast the whole time and very heavy rain on and off. Loved it though!
