Holiday parks walkable to the beach?

Hi lovely Mumsnetters!

I am looking for a family holiday with 1yo and 4yo DDs. I want a holiday park so that we've got activities and facilities on our doorstep but would also love to be able to walk to the beach (ideally sandy!) We are West Midlands and wouldn't want to drive more than 3 hours, so thinking Devon or maybe south Wales. Please hit me with your recommendations! TIA xx

Completely different direction to what you're thinking of, but we liked the Haven at Mablethorpe.

It's right by the beach - leave the site, cross the road and you're in the dunes that lead to a sandy beach (and it's right by a seal sanctuary too). It's about a mile outside Mablethorpe itself, so that's a bit of a walk, or v short drive

Butlins in Minehead is right across from the beach and walkable into the town for shops and restaurants etc. Plenty to do for young children there.

Sandy Bay, or rather Haven Cliffs Holiday park Exmouth.

Freshwater Beach in Dorset. It’s lovely and is right next to its own private beach. They have indoor/outdoor pools, bowling, bars and restaurants.

Right on Beautiful Black Rock sands. Can even take your car onto the sands.. very wide. Great for paddling..

Might be a bit further but the Presthaven at Preststatyn is right on the beach.

Opposite direction to what you are thinking but most of the east coast is sandy. Second the Haven at Mablethorpe. Or the Haven at Cleethorpes. Quite a few of the Havens on the east coast have walkable access to sandy beaches.

We are going to Haven Prestatyn this year, we’ve heard good things about it and it’s right next to the beach. We have done lots of Haven holidays, our DCs love them. If you go during term time you can get really cheap deals.

Kiln Park in Tenby is pretty much on the beach, and the town is close by for a wander too (and worth it!).

Trecco Bay, Porthcawl. Massive holiday park with lots of activities. They have special toddler breaks aimed at the little ones too

Kiln Park in Tenby

A little over 3 hours from Brum but Butlins Skegness has access right to a beach and loads of other things to do.

We loved greeenacres when the dc were tiny. Swimming pool on site, lovely sandy beach with caves and rock pools at one end. They have people dressed up as characters who do fun activities early evening while you enjoy a drink from the bar. There are also some other activities on site but we mostly went out and about. If you drive there is a lovely petting zoo nearby and lots of castles and beaches worth visiting.

Ladram Bay is nice. Went 3 times when our boys were small.

New Quay West Wales Haven Quay West?

I was going to recommend this. The beach is pebbly but otherwise perfect for what you describe

mitogoshi · 27/04/2024 22:01

Park holidays have several I've stayed at. Can't vouch for suitability for tots though as I was travelling with teens

FunLurker · 27/04/2024 22:10

Welcome, Dawlish Warren. Really sandy beaches funfair and on park all the usual activities from play park, several pools, crazy golf, then activities with staff. No details as was a while ago
