Fast track passport

Has anyone done a 1 week fast track passport application recently and can tell me how long it took? Had appt in Newport yesterday afternoon for son’s renewal and supposed to be travelling early Tues. Thinking with the weekend and Bank hols that it isn’t looking hopeful 😭. Also how much notice did you get before it was delivered? I’ve been told it is Royal Mail 48hr tracked. Thanks

It’s highly unlikely it was all completed and posted within one business day. On the off-chance that it was, the next postal deliveries aren’t until Tuesday, so if you haven’t received it yet, you’re unlikely to receive it before you travel.

You should be able to track it on line. They also send you emails to say it’s being processed and been posted. They will email you the tracking number.

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 31/03/2024 08:54

Agree with the above. Even if it was posted out the same day as your appointment the next delivery day is tomorrow anyway. What time are you leaving? I'd suggest unfortunately making peace with not going on this one.

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 31/03/2024 08:55

Sorry just realised your original post was Thursday so appointment was Wednesday. The bank holidays have made it impossible it seems unless you're around for the first post tomorrow.

Moonshine86 · 31/03/2024 08:56

Can you get the flight moved a day? Tuesday the most likely day for delivery.

mitogoshi · 31/03/2024 08:56

Mine was couriered not Royal Mail.

DrunkenElephant · 31/03/2024 08:58

If it hasn’t arrived by now, it will arrive Tuesday earliest if Royal Mail.

What time are you supposed to fly?

dementedpixie · 31/03/2024 09:10

My dds was sent tracked 24 rather than standard royal mail delivery. Dont know whether couriers would deliver at weekends/on bank holidays.

dementedpixie · 31/03/2024 09:13

You should get a message saying exactly when it will be delivered. We were given a 2 hour time slot (although it was just posted through the door anyway)

Tallerandtall · 31/03/2024 09:17

@Mummyzzz

the week means at least 5 business days.
not a calendar week.

surely you knew that?

you could have done a day passport meeting but that does cost a lot.

why was it such a rush?

dementedpixie · 31/03/2024 09:20

@Tallerandtall I think the fastest you can get a child renewal is the 1 week fast track. Only adult renewals can be done on the 1 day service.

My dds renewal took 1 week on the standard service. Application Thursday, old passport sent on that day. They received it a couple of days later and new passport posted through the door the next Friday

Mummyzzz · 31/03/2024 09:45

Thanks everyone, we had notification this morning that the passport is being printed. Wasn’t expecting them to be working today! For those that used fast track how much notice did you get before it was delivered? We can wait for post to arrive on Tuesday but expect that is unlikely.

Mummyzzz · 31/03/2024 09:47

Thank you was that recently and how long before were you given a delivery date/time?

littleducks · 31/03/2024 09:57

Mine was approved last week on 26th, printed on 27th and arrived via Royal mail courier not usual post on 28th. Got a text message with two hour window of wooden it would arrive

Hope you get yours as promptly, mine was an adult renewal and with standard less than 6 week service and I was surprised how fast it all was as only applied online on 21st and they received my old passport on 25th.

dementedpixie · 31/03/2024 09:59

Dds was printed on the Thursday and then delivered Friday last week

Moonshine86 · 31/03/2024 10:00

Can you call the post sorting office Tuesday morning and see if there’s an option to pick it up?

dementedpixie · 31/03/2024 10:02

I think it will delivered by courier before Tuesday so fingers crossed @Mummyzzz

I checked my messages and got a message from Royal Mail on the same day the passport was printed. The passport was then delivered the next day

Mummyzzz · 31/03/2024 10:05

That’s really helpful, thank you. Fingers crossed.

Have you had an update yet?

Springtime43 · 01/04/2024 18:53

Any news?

808bond · 13/08/2024 14:22

@Mummyzzz how did this work out in the end? I'm currently in a similar position and due to travel Saturday Shock

Mummyzzz · 13/08/2024 17:39

We had a message that it was being printed on the Sunday and it arrived Weds pm I think, but was a bank holiday Mon. Son ended up staying behind with his aunt! Hope you have better luck. x

@808bond Hi we are in the same position.
We had appointment in Liverpool yesterday and we are flying on Saturday.. application did not approve yet ;( any update with urs ?

808bond · 13/08/2024 22:17

@Sen1902 no update on the website. They said they don't print the passport until it's come out of the safeguard hold, which seems strange for a fasttrack process. I would have thought they would print them whilst on hold then they just send them out for delivery once the hold is done. Sure. There may be a few that have issues (unfortunately), but surely most are just a formality?
Fingers crossed....we might see you at the airport Sat Smile
