Where to stay in Amsterdam with kids

Hi travelling to Amsterdam by plane for 2 nights then plan to get the train down to a 2nd destination in Holland. Where can we stay with kids that will mean minimal travell from the airport (and back to the train station etc) but also near the sights. And what sights do we want to see there with children? Thanks

I wouldn’t worry too much about getting around, the trams are really fast, cheap and frequent. We don’t have them in my city, I wish we did they’re fab! You can pretty much get a tram from the centraal train station to most places in Amsterdam.

I would so recommend going to Artis zoo with the children, it’s the most beautiful zoo, plenty to see if you get chance. You can probably do it within about 3/4 hours if you went round quite quickly.

There’s also ripleys believe it or not and madam Tussaud's in Amsterdam square, if your wanting to keep in the centre, there’s also Amsterdam dungeons further down in the same area.

As for where to stay, we stayed at Hotel De Jonker in one of the suites, was like a mini flat so had a little kitchenette, opposite the zoo. It was a lovely quiet area just outside the immediate centre. Very few coffeeshops nearby. There’s also the zoo hotel in that area, unsure of the name but would imagine it’s probably one of the most family friendly in Amsterdam. Unable to suggest for right in the centre, sorry!

Hope this helps though!

Thanks they'll be 7 and 2. Sorry for the late reply I didn't realise anyone had replied. Thank you both so far.
