AIBU to ask where I can find an affordable villa for us and our 4DC in the school summer holidays?

Just want to lie on a sun lounger and the kids have access to a pool.
Need three bedrooms.

I don't want anything else, really.
Why can't I find anything?

Unfortunately affordable and school holidays don't really go together.

MN users are pretty good at helping to find accommodation. What sort of budget do you have, and where are you looking to travel to?

abigailsholiday · 24/03/2024 17:24

Yes so I am discovering.
I don't really mind where we go as long as there is pretty much guaranteed sunshine.
Happy to fly budget airline (we are based in Essex - not far from Southend but can also get to stansted easily)
Or maybe even drive to the South of France ? Not sure how feasible that is?

How about eurocamp?

Ellerby83 · 24/03/2024 17:25

What is your budget?

sunnylanding · 24/03/2024 17:26

How do you define affordable? What would you spend on a villa for a week?

abigailsholiday · 24/03/2024 17:33

I don't know really - I was trying to find out what we paid pre covid - but I can't find my bill from then....bearing in mind we'll have to feed ourselves I don't really want to spend more than £4500

Sorry that's for a fortnight not a week. Maybe that's where I am going wrong. - Need to go for less time.

Does £4500 include flights as well?

Soozikinzii · 24/03/2024 17:35

We were both teachers with 6 kids we found the eurocamp style holidays worked well for us ? The accommodation is nice if you don't mind the camp type of thing . There's lots for the kids .

We had a villa booked in lanzarote for first week of the summer hols and it was £1100. Have a look on booking.com

Aria20 · 24/03/2024 17:36

I doubt you are going to find anything for that in school holidays. We have booked a 2 bed villa with pool in kefalonia for early July so not school holidays for that amount!

socks1107 · 24/03/2024 17:36

I did a ground floor apartment last year for 6 of us, it had a pool and bus stop nearby and was a lovely holiday.
It was in Torreviaja and I booked on booking.com and did flights separately. Whole thing was £2000 for all six in August. There was a supermarket 100 yards away and we shopped and cooked every day

First week in August. 1 week. You would need to get there

If you click on the image it’s £1900

sunnylanding · 24/03/2024 17:44

I would also check out aparthotels/apartments with shared pools on air bnb. They'll be cheaper than a villa and still have a kitchen which allows you to save money on eating out.

This one is in Malaga, should be plenty of flights available. I think if you look to get back just before the dc need to be at school you'll get something cheaper than early in the holidays. Most people like to be back in plenty of time but if you sort everything before you go it's doable?

tothesea · 24/03/2024 17:51

Lots of beautiful villas on Airbnb in Andalusia for around £2-2500 for 2 weeks. Flying to Malaga. It would be very hot though.

tothesea · 24/03/2024 17:57

Orgiva. Just one example there are tons.

tothesea · 24/03/2024 18:00

Oops it’s only got 2 bedrooms but easy to filter. Vrbo will have loads too.

spanieleyes22 · 24/03/2024 18:11

I was looking at Albania!! I know don't laugh but it has gorgeous beaches and air bnbs. Flights are cheap. U can hire a car but u don't have to. From one of the beaches u can even see tourists over on corfu paying high prices!!

Have you been before? Also wondering about this option...
