Changing a package holiday

We've booked a Tui holiday for this summer and I'm having second thoughts about the hotel. I didn't add the flex on so we will have to pay if we want to change hotels. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever changed hotels before and if it is likely the prices could come down nearer the time. At the moment I have found one I like better, though it's not better rated and we would have an additional £200 to pay. I can't decide whether to do it now or hold my nerve...

In the last few years I have found there are very few late deals. There just seems to be less choice the longer you wait, so I don't think you are likely to get a deal. I guess it depends how desperate you are to swap, and if you will be really disappointed if you hold out and can't get what you want later. (I am looking in school holidays, it might be different at other times).

I don't think packages are generally cheaper last minute now though it splits between the flight price going up and sometimes the hotel price does come down but often very last minute. Places do sell out though especially in peak season. Discounting is less likely at peak times.

Why second thoughts though ?

If you want to change sooner rather than later is better to avoid additional charges

Can you be sure there would be availability at the new hotel if you wait. If you want to advise disappointment change the booking now. If you are not really bothered wait.

Second thoughts because I've watched a YouTube video and it looks a bit tired. The reviews are good though. It's higher rated than the one I was thinking of changing to.

Thanks all. I have been watching it for quite a a while since the regrets started and the prices seem to be dropping a bit at the moment for a few of the hotels in the area so might just watch a little bit longer before I pounce!!

Just a little update in case anyone is in the same situation. I checked every week, sometimes every day and I found that the prices fluctuated a lot. Two weeks ago the hotel I fancied to change to was the highest it had been and I thought it was never going to happen. Yesterday it did drop dramatically and I snapped it up and have ended up with money back despite the £200 amendment fee. This is with 30 days to go. So definitely worth checking.

Brillant weather = lots of choices.
Crap weater = few choices.

Thanks for updating OP.

If the situation was bothering you that much I think you did the right thing to change. One less worry.

Have a great holiday.
