Before I had my son, I used to travel quite a bit but with Covid, splitting from my exh and now being a lone parent, my son and I haven’t done loads.

I took him abroad for the first-time last year to Disneyland Paris and we had a great time. He is 6 this year and I thought it would be a good idea to have a wish list of places we want to to go and rough prices.

He of course would like to go to Disneyworld, legoland (the original) and to Lapland. Can anyone give me an indication of the price and spending money required for an adult and child?

Also, where else would you recommend in the world, near and far? I have ADHD and he doesn’t sit still either so places with lots to do and see would be great. He loves the beach here in the UK so beaches are a good shout too

oh come on, no one can give you a price for those trips as there are so many variables - when you go, where you can fly from, how long you stay for, what accommodation you pick, level of catering etc etc. Travel agents websites such as Tui should give you an idea of the price for Lapland and Disneyland. Legoland you can probably do by purchasing flights and accommodation separately.

The beaches, parks and country paths in the UK. He doesn't need to go overseas at 6 years old.

My DC loved Disneyland Paris for a first “abroad” holiday and as a parent I appreciated how easy it was to get to. From there we moved on to beach holidays (Mallorca, Minorca), cruises from Southampton, then Disneyworld. Now older they like experience holidays - mountains, caves, ruins, lakes and city breaks. We’ve never had the budget to do loads of long haul trips or the inclination to go anywhere too intrepid but have such fond memories of what we did do together.
