Gran Canaria weather?

After a very long time we are going on a holiday abroad at Easter. We are going to be based in the southern part of Gran Canaria. I'm a bit worried as on the BBC it shows maximum temperatures of around 21°

I thought it would be warmer than this. Is anyone out there right now who can tell me how it feels?

We have been twice at Easter. On both occasions we had a few hot days, but the rest of the time it was mild, late teens/early 20s. Although I know people who have been for Christmas and it’s been scorching! I think Easter is just that bit too early to guarantee the weather

We go to the Canaries frequently. The weather is likely to be 20-25 degrees during the day, and mid to high teens at night. That was certainly the case in February.
It is likely to be dry and mostly sunny though, which is not guaranteed for most short haul destinations at that time of year.
I hope you have a great holiday!

I have just been, it was between 20 and 25 C - but quite windy at times - did manage sun bathing and swim in hotel pool.

Canaries are all year round holiday destinations and tiny islands in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.. the weather is usually around 21 to 25 in March/ April.. with a breeze.. if no breeze would be hotter and unpleasant because of the Saraha desert being close by.
We holiday in the Canaries about 5 times per year and no week/ month as ever been the same over the last 20 years.. we have had it hotter in Nov then August one year.. and hotter in March than July another year.
Just be careful even on a cloudy day you can burn.
Most pools are salt water and very few heated.. they rely on the Sun.. so more warmer starting end of May.. sea is usually warmer than pools in the winter months.
Have a fabulous time.
We are going to Fueterventura on Thursday.

P.S use a local weather forecast not the BBC.

Thanks everyone. It'll be nice to hopefully get away from the grey skies and rain!

Where exactly in South? Maspalomas for example always has a bit of a breeze so manageable even in August (but not so good in summer). Mogan however on south west is very sheltered and has a little microclimate. We went once when Easter was early and it was beautiful weather every day.

You have hit the jackpot then! The harbour is really pretty as well. Have a lovely time.

We are here currently and it's 28c and I'm sunbathing. Chilly in the evening, my DDs have been wearing long sleeves and tights under their dresses.

friendlycat · 20/03/2024 13:14

Puerto Mogan has a micro climate that is amazing. We go every Christmas and sometimes at Easter, though this year going to Lanzarote for Easter.

It can be cloudy and windy further up the coast and near the airport and then you go down the motorway to Puerto Mogan and it is glorious sunshine.

Sunnnybunny72 · 20/03/2024 13:26

I'm there now sat by the pool. It was high twenties Sunday, Monday. Mid twenties now but feels warmer and I'm burning. Slight breeze. Blue skies.
Absolutely the life.

Sunnnybunny72 · 20/03/2024 13:27

In Mogan too! What a find.

Spot on.
I've been cold on a beach in Fuerta in June and had a blistering hot week in January.
Between January and April you take a risk of the odd rainy day or a strong cool wind.( It's never not windy). However you are likely to have some warm sunshine at any time of the year.
I always take summer clothes for daytime and trousers and a warm hoody in winter as the temperature does drop in evenings.
