Iceland or Tromso, Norway?

It’s my 50th in a couple of years and I want to go away somewhere bucket-listy. My birthday is in February and I’m not looking for somewhere hot or anything like that. I want snow, cold, sledging, etc.

I’m looking now so we have time to save.

Iceland - I’ve been for a long weekend and absolutely loved every second. So considering going back for longer so we can see/do more than we did last time.

Tromso, Norway - I haven’t been, looks stunning and I’ve heard lots of good things from people who have.

Has anyone been to both? Which did you prefer? Or any other suggestions please?

Thanks!

I've not been to Iceland but have been to Tromso in January and it was just stunningly beautiful. My friend and I saw the northern lights, went dog sledging and cross country skiing and visited a Sami encampment. Such a fun time! We also explored Bergen on the way up and did the Flam railway and a little cruise on a fjord. Magical :D

My friend planned the trip and the reason she chose Tromso was because she'd been to Iceland and hadn't seen the lights.

Tromso is incredible. I've been to both and would pick tromso in February every time even though I loved Iceland. It's just stunning.

Thank you!

I did love Iceland, but didn’t get to see the Northern lights either.

Tromso looks stunning, and I’ve found so many trips and stuff I want to go on.

Any recommendations for accommodation in Tromso?

Thanks!

Definitely Tromso.

I've done both (but in December). Would def agree, Tromso is the one to go for.

Can't help with accommodation as we stayed at a hotel that wasn't great however, we did a whale watching trip with the Brim Explorer which was great so I'd def recommend them if they're available.

@Ellybellyboo We stayed in an AirBnB on the outskirts but I did see some nice looking hotels in the town centre :)

I’ve been to both times and would probably pick Tromso. I can’t recommend accommodation as I stay in remote fishing lodges.

That should read a few times

Thanks all!

Tromso it is.

I’ve found a few nice hotels - I’m not too fussed about the hotel to be honest, I just want somewhere with a comfortable bed to sleep.

We hired a car in Iceland, but this time I want to stay somewhere central and just book a load of trips out.
