Cornwall holiday for solo woman traveller

This post mentions a surf retreat, but I'm open to any retreat/break really.

I (36W) have time to go on holiday alone this summer. I love the idea of doing something like a surf retreat in Newquay, where a group of women stay together and are taught surfing for a few days. One caveat, I've never surfed before 🤣

Does anything like this exist? I've looked online and I'm not sure what's reputable, or would have a "group-like" feel. I would love to meet people to have lunch and dinner with, maybe go to a pub, or look round the town together in the free time.

I'm not a good solo traveller (I've done it for business) and the loneliness tends to make me go into hermit mode and hide. I struggle to meet people, and I struggle to be happy alone (e.g., looking round museums on my own etc). I think I need something that allows me to meet other like-minded solo travellers. I'm open to ideas other than surfing too, but I think it looks like such great fun!

Thanks for sharing these @NowStartAgain. This is exactly the thing I'm thinking of.

Do you know the companies? Are they reputable? I've never done anything like this before, so I'm a bit warey of booking with a company I haven't heard of before.

Women + waves. they’re right in Newquay - there’s a Facebook group too I think.

Una st Ives hosts one which is surf and yoga.

There are nicer places in Cornwall than Newquay IMO.

You could also try an art course (st Ives school of painting hosts courses, but I’m not sure if they look after the residential part) or a wellness break — a lot of the bigger hotels host these like watergate bay, st Michael’s resort, or there is a pig/Cabilla cross over which sounds nice based partly in Harlyn and partly on Bodmin moor.

@DoggieMommie I'm definitely open to places outside Newquay - it's just easy for me to get to. I've been to St Ives before and it's lovely.
