Malta in early April - accommodation recommendations needed

Hoping to go for 3 nights. 2 adults and ds11 and dd7. Thinking of more of a city break in Valletta. Could anyone recommend a nice stay?

It’ can be quite chilly and windy in early April.
DH took the kids self catering mid April 2014 near Melieha (spelling? I wasn’t there) and I have a video of DD shivering in the outside pool. Not a chance they could have gone sea swimming.

we stayed here last may and it was lovely. Within walking distance of the waterfront with buses and ferry to valetta or st julians the other way. Not many small hotels have a pool and i think they have apartments across the road rather than just rooms if you prefer. Very clean and staff lovely.

Grand excelsior is fab and very central

AX Victoria in Sliema is a short walk from the ferry across to Valletta. It has a fabulous rooftop pool.
