Cyprus in August - evening clothes

Hi all. We’re off to Cyprus (Ayia Napa area) for 10 days towards the end of August.

I’m sure it will be HOT during the day (mid to high 30’s do you think?) but am wondering about the evenings.

Will it be warm enough for shorts/strappy dresses in the evening or will we need longer trousers/cardis? Thanks!

Cardi???😂

No, it will be hot and humid, sleeveless dresses are all that I wear

been going for years, the only time I have ever worn a cardi is on the flight over

Sundaygettingreadyfortheweek · 11/03/2024 14:57

It will be boiling. A sun dress will be fine.

PuttingDownRoots · 11/03/2024 14:59

Mid to high 30s? 40s usually!

The only place its cool is in an air conditioned building.

WAGGINGTONGUE · 11/03/2024 15:00

We have sat out at midnight and the coolest it gets overnight is around 26c

Boiling hot

Ive been in july and its boiling! Day and night, I certainly didnt need a cardi! Im very jealous I love Cyprus

reluctantbrit · 11/03/2024 15:18

We were in Rhodes, I assume that‘s approx the same and it was boiling until late into the night.

Moier · 11/03/2024 15:36

Hit at least 30 every night in August.. far too hot for us.. even hotter in day.. we go May and October.

ShennyInfinity · 11/03/2024 15:38

I used to live in Cyprus, and definitely no cardi! It's still boiling in the evening, quite clammy as well, take a battery hand held fan with you! Have a lovely time.

TheBackingSinger · 11/03/2024 16:38

It will still be blisteringly hot in the evening. In fact if you eat out before sunset you will want to find a table in the shade. Take a handbag fan not a cardi.

PopcornFiend · 11/03/2024 18:27

Thanks all! I feel an absolute idiot for asking, my husband has literally just cried laughing when I told him the question I’d asked. No cardis!!

Pack plenty of suncream, a hat, sunglasses
And something warm for the journey home.

We are going to Cyprus in August but I'm wondering whether to cancel now, I've heard it reaches 40 degrees and I'm not sure I can handle that heat!l

DB used to live there and he used to come back to the uk for the whole of August. The heat is relentless.

WAGGINGTONGUE · 12/03/2024 10:15

yes, we used to go in July/August but it was too unbearable for me, its the humidity too that gets me,

we go end of June and September now

We went in July and didn't enjoy it.
