Where to stay in Paris? Montmartre, Oberkampf or Canal St Martin?

As the title says, really - I’m taking DC 8 to Paris in May and have narrowed down hotels to three in these areas. The one in Montmartre is on the Lamarck-Caulaincourt side. I can’t decide whether it’s worth paying a bit more to be nearer Oberkampf/Bastille, or save a bit by staying in one of the other areas. Any thoughts?

When are you planning on visiting?.

Bastille may be your best bet here out of the three areas you have chosen (the other two are quite distant) but have you looked at hotels near Gare St Lazare?. What’s your budget per night?.

Thanks for replying. Max £200 per night, open to suggestions as long as not sketchy areas!
