Meeting an old friend in the city centre and was hoping for a nice (not too posh) place for lunch and maybe a gallery or window shopping later. Don't know Leeds at all and on foot. My googling has turned up nothing. All help gratefully received!

The Calls restaurant.
Harvey Nicks for shopping?
Lovely Victorian arcades.

Thank you - The Calls looks great and Harvey Nicks is a good idea.

There are also a lot of places around the Corn Exchange that do food and drink - and Corn Exchange often has something interesting at the weekend. That way you get to walk past the fantastic VIctorian Market buildings even if you don't go in.

Browns is nice, on The Headrow, too.

Thank you - I have a vague memory of visiting leeds about 15 yrs ago and having my nose pierced in a shop near the corn exchange( I am pleased that my goth days are behind me)and I think it had just been converted or done up. Thank you for the good ideas.

Thank you PYBF - I loved The Yorkshire Sculpture Park so the Institute looks like the place for me.

yes i love the sculpture park

The henry moore is actually quite tiny - blink and it's ove but it is right next door to the leeds art gallery which is surprisingly fun

The art gallery has a new cafe (tile hall) which is lovely. It's not super posh if that's what you're after but would be nice for a coffee and cake.
