Your Best Summer Holiday Ideas with a 3 Year Old??

Help! Looking for some inspiration for a summer holiday with a three year old. We've left this quite late and just feel like everything is so overpriced and not the best for a toddler. Open to any ideas at all! Caravan parks in UK, holiday resorts abroad, fancy, not fancy??

Last year we did a city break in Denmark, it was great but intense holding DC hand 24/7. Something with a bit more freedom for them would be amazing. Even a great resort with a big soft play? Ideally next to the coast somewhere? I did look at some of the centre parcs in Europe. We're based in Scotland so thought about the ferry over and the ferry was more expensive than the holiday!? So disappointing what you can get for your money now. We have been thinking of Cornwall but would need to fly down then rent a car - just want to check there are no better ideas first!

Anyway, any inspiration please share. Thank you!!

What about the North Yorkshire Moors or Coastline ?
Some beautiful countryside / walks
Excellent beaches
The best fish'n'chips in the world
Loads of history
Some interesting towns.

Look for a cottage as a base and you could drive there without needing flights or hire cars.

We like Eurocamp with our kids, aged 6 and nearly 3.
if you’re not bound by school holidays yet then they are very good value.

not sure if these are what you’re after but these worked for us between 3 and 6

We tried abroad at that age which was a disaster so stuck to the UK for a few years after that.

Big hits included North Wales which has castles eg in Conwy and Caernarfon so that you can dress up as a princess or a knight, Greenwood Forest Park has activities for little ones like a mini rollercoaster, boats you can pull yourself along on and a grass toboggan slope. Portmerion is fun with all the pretty houses. You can travel on steam trains and boats and even get a train up Snowdon. And Llandudno is a proper seaside resort with a pier and cable car.

Northumberland also has castles and lots of lovely beaches.

We tended to camp or Youth Hostel then, but occasionally rented a cottage. Plus point is that you have space when they go to bed, you can eat out or cook in and there is the NHS just in case.

Go wherever you want to go. A 3 yr old is happy wherever. Just find a park or play area every now and then.

Great Yarmouth - traditional beach holiday
Isle of Wight - on the ferry
Northumberland - lovely rock pools and beaches.

Thank you everyone! Great ideas I will look at them all. I was literally just looking at Yorkshire @NewName24 as I saw a big park, Stockeld Park I think? It looked great.

We had great holidays to Greece when ours were little. The Greeks adore children and like to spoil them

We found to Menorca with a kids club that took 3 year olds and a mini disco. It was all inclusive, local to a town so we could go for a wander or somewhere else for dinner if we wanted, but also so little one could go to kids club for an hour, and looked forward to dancing every night. Might not be for everyone but it meant that we felt like we got an odd hour that we could lay read a book or have a conversation, combined with time together. Tui have been the best for us for this type of holiday, and we did it again at 4, and will again this year before school starts. September worked well for us, a bit cheaper than August

Turkey is great too for three year olds, oh and Portugal. We also go to Greece most years. Like a PP said, they are really good with kids there.

What about camping in Cornwall or New Forest?

I’m thinking about taking my kids to Malta this summer. We went when my eldest was smaller and visited Popeye land - views were amazing!
