Barcelona alone?

Not long since come out of a relationship whereby I was cheated on for the last two months.

My head is all over the place and I'm contemplating a getaway in the sun but obviously I'd be going alone.

I'm 31 (f), is this a good idea?

I'm considering going in May for 4 or 5 nights

I would go on my own, just make sure you book your hotel somewhere central so you're not walking out to the quieter areas at night. Like any city it has good and not so good areas.

Have a fab time, amazing place and lots of lovely Spanish men 😍

Yes ìts a wonderful city and you see lots of people dining alone so you wont feel out of place.

Pre book the sagada familia as that sells out quickly

Nice rooftop bars, loads of history, buy a bum bag as there are pickpockets but otherwise its an incredibly safe city where you can walk around late at night safely.

Some.great clubs if dancing is your thing. Barcelona is a place where lits of people are by themselves and its the done thing going out alone

It’s lovely on your own - I went in Feb. The only down side is that the most typical local foods, tapas and pintxos, don’t really work if you are on your own. Go for it!

Definitely do it !
I have travelled a lot on my own and I absolutely love it !
Enjoy yourself

Only paella is for two or more tapas and pinxos you just order for 1 whatever

Yes but be really careful on the metro, especially at night. Pickpockets and muggers are rife sadly.

Luckingfovely · 05/03/2024 23:59

I love Barcelona, but also want to add a note of warning. Last time I went, with friends, our drinks were spiked, we all came out the other side okay eventually, but it was terrifying. (I know this isn't common, but can't help but want to share and warn).

Do you specifically want a city break? Spain? Or just somewhere in the sun?

I'd highly recommend Palma, Majorca as an alternative, warm, option - have been on my own several times and feel much safer there. Or Valencia.

Deadinsideyetagain · 06/03/2024 00:13

I want sun, a beach, some culture, so Barcelona seems a good option.

I would like to go out in the evenings but I am a little bit nervous about it, I've never really been abroad alone before but I would be interested to try!

I want relaxing vibes but I'm also worried about being alone and (potentially) sad/feeling lonely in the evenings, I don't want to end up sat in my hotel room alone crying to Adele 😂

I'm 32 and did this in September. Well I actually first went to Sitges, a beach town 30 mins away. Quieter and much cheaper than Barcelona.

I then went to Barcelona on the train. It's great for a solo traveller, but keep an eye on your bag.

I'd like to suggest Malaga and Valencia too. Both beachy and less pickpockets. Barcelona is lovely too.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 06/03/2024 01:12

I would do a boot camp in Mallorca

ilovesooty · 06/03/2024 01:17

I went on my own in February some time ago. I had a brilliant time.

Deadinsideyetagain · 06/03/2024 09:10

I'm going to book it I think 🤩
