Sardinia inspiration

Hello! Sardinia has caught my eye, but I'm really confused about which area to look for accommodation. We want to go early July. We want to be near a beach, but also close to a town. We'd rather not hire a car as we prefer walking or taking public transport. We are two adults and two teenagers. Please suggest any nice areas that might tick these boxes 🙏🏽

We loved Cala Gonone, but might be difficult without a car

Alghero is only a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport. Right on the beach with a lovely old town a walk away along the seafront.

There are places with much more beautiful beaches further north, but we hired a car for a few days to visit these places.

Alghero used to have a restaurant that did metre long pizzas but don't know if it's still there.

We stayed at residences picale which were very nice.

I’ve been 3 times without a car. It’s perfect. Makes me think of going back actually. You can walk along the beach to Fertilla (I think it’s called). There’s plenty of boat trips so you can explore the coves.

We've never had a car there (perhaps once from memory), been about 6 times. Alghero is the best, you can get busses to Sassari and also along the coast (not that frequent)

Thank you all so much. I've started looking into Alghero, but it's almost impossible to reach there from the East Midlands.
Do you know if it's easily reached via another airport?

Thanks all! I've booked Alghero! Starting to get excited now.

Hi!
If anyone has visited Alghero, please share any recommendations of excursions, activities, etc.
My Instagram keeps showing me images from other parts of Sardinia but I hope to see plenty from our base in the town.
