£600 - where would you go

if you had approx £600 to spend on a weekend break in May ( Thursday eve-sun) - for one adult - where would you go?

ideally somewhere warm / hot. Breakfast included. I like long walks but also just beach / pool lounging. Spectacular views would be a bonus!

To be really awkward - Places id ideally avoid as been recently: Seville, Rome, Naples, Budapest, Prague, Majorca, Fuertaventura, Marrakech, Poland, Germany.

Maybe Barcalona as you could hit the beach and do sightseeing. Or that budget would stretch to one of the Scandinavian capitals. I've only been to Copenhagen but absolutely loved it. Everyone is beautiful and Tivoli is amazing.

Early or late May? If early May, I'd go as far south as you're willing to - Malaga, Madeira, a Greek Island, Faro. If later in May, Barcelona, Valencia, Lisbon, Porto.

Oh also - Ibiza. Santa Eulària is lovely.

Porto or San Sebastián

As your timings and budget is quite specific I would go on skyscanner and see what direct flights are available for those days and times. If it's late May most places will be pleasant but I'd say likely only Portugal/Spain/canaries/morocco and further afield will be reliably warm.

Santander, Spain - cheap flights & interesting.

TrentCrimmOfTheIndependent · 05/03/2024 09:36

Lisbon definitely

spottydinosaur · 05/03/2024 09:38

Another Lisbon recommendation

How about somewhere in the South of France?

unsync · 05/03/2024 17:05

Balearics or Malta. PP suggests SoF, we had very unsettled weather last May and it is all over the place this winter too, so might be a bit of a gamble.

FinallyFeb · 05/03/2024 17:06

Oh yes, Malta is a good shout, Valletta is lovely for walking around.

weescotlass · 05/03/2024 21:36

Depends where you're starting from and what direct/cheap flights are available. I'd start with Skyscanner from your local airport and take it from there.
