UK holiday with small grandchildren

Hi all,
DH and I are looking to buy a 7 seater car and take all our grandchildren on more days out together. We've spoken to both our children and they've agreed we can take the kids away on a little long weekend or 5 day holiday next Easter. I'm a planner so want to get started now.
There are 5 kids, Girls ages 2, 4 and 6 (so will be 3,5 and 7 next year) and the boys are 3 and 5 (so 4 and 6) next year.

We will stay in the uk, don't want to travel more than a few hours or so, would like somewhere with lots to do that we could potentially return to every other year with our grandkids. My parents did this with my children and their cousins but they always went to Blackpool which isn't somewhere I can stomach. We would like a beach though (not for paddling or that obviously but for getting the wellies on and having a run around).

We live in the very east of Cumbria, sort of nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes.

Does anyone have any ideas of places that might fit the bill. Thinking maybe north Wales or the Yorkshire coast?

The Bay at Filey might fit the bill.

North wales is good.

We went on holiday there many times when I was a child.

Caernarfon castle, Harlech castle, lots of castles. Lots of beaches. Also Snowden, national slate museum, and GreenWood family park.

I would issue a slight word of warning - my PIL decided to do this and took four grandkids. They lasted 24 hours out if a planned 5 dats because they weren't used to coping with small kids.

5 kids to 2 adults is a lot.

I agree. Filey.

Porthmadog in North Wales
Or Barmouth North Wales.. Great safe beaches. Plenty to do .. can drive over to Anglesey for the day.. Castles to explore too.
Caravan parks or Airbnb.

Just wondering what sort of car you are considering?
7 seaters sometimes don't have much luggage space.

Northumberland?

You’re brave! I can’t imagine volunteering to take 5 kids under 8 on holiday!

That’s a lot of kids!!!
Have a look at Ribby Hall, it’s not on a beach but close to Lytham St Anne’s which is lovely and not even that far from Blackpool if you get nostalgic 😂
