Could you give me your opinions please. We’ve never done a city break before so wondering which would be best for 13 and 15 year olds. What did you do and see with yours and what was a hit?

thanks.

Just been to Rome with same age kids. They loved it. They're not big into art, but tolerated the Vatican museum, and loved the ancient stuff (especially Colosseum) . Food is great and not too expensive. The thing I like about Rome is there's lots of open space - if the weather's good (it was stunning in February), then it's lovely just wandering around the forum or the Palatine hill or the Borghese - we walked a long way. In terms of location, we were sraying near Repubblica - not the prettiest area, but convenient and affordable, and we had a lovely hotel.

My top tip would be to position yourself near a Metro and/or main route and get a travel pass for your stay. Although we walked a lot, we also bussed a lot - so convenient for going further afield for sight seeing or eating out in the evening, or just getting 'home' after a tiring day. The bus is also much better for getting to Trastevere, which is lovely for eating out but has no Metro. We downloaded a bus app and got quite savvy at zipping around. NB if you love food then book restaurants, at least a few hours ahead - we went at a quiet time of year, but even then the popular restaurants get full.

Both are lovely and worth a visit! They are both very crowded cities but definitely worth visiting at least once in your lifetime.

Sorry no help here 😅

My heart is firmly in Venice but with kids I’d go to Rome. More stuff for them to see that they’ve actually learned about!

Have you considered Barcelona? The coolest city for kids, in my opinion.
