I've been keeping an eye on your thread all day as we're looking to book exactly the same for the end of the month.
We decided tonight on XO hotel west park. It looks like a premier inn/Travelodge type place. Not right in the city centre but the tram is right outside so hopefully not to arduous.
Went through booking.com and got a free taxi from the airport too.

We stayed in serviced apartments - Wittenberg by Cove.

NH Museum Quarter is a good hotel in a perfect location for walking or cycling around the canal centre, the Vondelpark, visiting the Albert Cuyp street market, restaurants in the Pijp, museums etc.

Amsterdam is a small city and v accessible so don’t worry too much about where you stay. If you can afford it stay central, but not by the station.

i have lived and worked there on and off for the past 20 years. It’s a wonderful place!

Look at options in Haarlem or Utrecht, easy to get in and out of Amsterdam by train.

We stayed at the Grand Amarth for 5 nights with 2 DDs over New Year, it was about 5 mins walk from Centraal station, and easy walking distance of the city.

Amsterdam hotels are expensive like London hotels, sadly.

We have stayed three times at the "airport" Ramada (quote marks because it's not exactly close to the airport) on the edge of the small town of Badhoevedorp, and we have always had a great price. You get a big modern room and there is a pool and sauna. There's no restaurant apart from breakfast, but there are a couple of places to eat in the town, between 200 and 800m away.

You can either get the bus into the city, or get the hotel shuttle to the airport (from memory this is €5 pp going to the airport and free coming back) where there is a major railway station. Not super-convenient, but we paid way less than we would have done in the city itself. In fact with the prices I'm looking at right now (I'm seeing around £130 for a night for two with breakfast next week Monday) you can probably afford to take Uber.

Try the citizen M in the financial district

We stayed in Zaandam, about 15 mins out of the centre by train. Very easy to come and go to the city centre, and quite a bit cheaper. Also good for eating out in the evening, a good choice of restaurants in the town square, and again, cheaper than eating in the centre, and less touristy. No English menus though.

We stayed at the hyatt regency in the university district. Beautiful hotel and lots of lovely walks to do around it. You can walk into the centre from there but takes a good half an hour or so.

HoteljlNo76 in the museum quater was good for me and Dd 14 , a couple years ago. Areas central but away from the mass crowds and most of central amsterdam walkable. Is also on the tram.line and airport bus line both fab and reliable. Good for early museum visits too. We did an easyjet package

How was the hotel @blibblibs , looking for hotels for October this year.

blibblibs · 22/06/2025 19:46

Just seen this @Sunshineandrainbow
Hotel was great, 4 of us shared a room, plenty big enough for sleeping in, nice bathroom and the tram stop was directly outside. No more than 10 mins into the city centre and it was a 10 mins walk in the opposite direction to the main bus station, which we used a couple of times.
Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that but it's was clean, quiet and convenient. I would stay there again.
Hope you have a great time, DC really enjoyed it and claimed it was their best holiday last year.
