Have a holiday coming up - I've not been abroad for over 5 years!! I think I've got the basics but are there any thing that might be good to take on the trip.

I've got travel adapters, snorkel, clothing sorted I think.

I'm packing her life vest that we use back home for SUP as think it will make snorkelling easier for her. She can swim well but isn't used to swimming in the sea. Think of should be OK but might take a small float

Dive shops will have something to fit her if you don't want to take up suitcase space

Loads of people had full face masks for snorkelling in Egypt last year. They said they were loads better than traditional masks as they didn't mist up, so you weren't forever trying to clear them. I'd say I was in the minority with my trad mask on a boat trip we did.

I love mine and wouldn't go traditional again but I was shocked to see what happened. I think with a bit of caution they're fine but worth knowing to keep an eye.

@jellyx I have been before so I know what to expect. I love it! Ive been lucky enough to travel south east Asia and also do Europe so have experience of a variety of holidays. This time I want pure relaxation with swimming and snorkeling and I think this fits. I've also done Caribbean which was amazing but I don't want a busy resort feel this time. Also that's gone up in price a lot as well!

Rash vest. Got burnt, sun super strong. Does rain in evenings, take bite cream.

We had taken DGCs a couple of times to the Maldives with a boat transfer. Then we did a seaplane transfer and I told them how much they would enjoy the views as they flew over little islands. They boarded and promptly fell asleep, until we landed and saw nothing.
The seaplanes have to balance their weight safely. Passengers deemed ‘large’ are weighed before boarding. In public.

Those full face snorkels are really dangerous, they are ok for a very inactive child closely supervised but no reputable dive operator would loan them out.

I am in the Maldives right now. We have waited years to come.

It is truly amazing. We have an overwater villa. The resort is incredible

We are at Heritance Aarah. We booked through Kenwood Travel.

The ocean life is beautiful. We have seen sharks, turtles, rays and clown fish.

I would definitely get a rash vest or a swimming costume with sleeves for your dd. The sun is so strong.

Factor 50 is a must and also something you can put on your scalp and hairline for eye you are not wearing a hat.

Most resorts supply snorkels etc but you can take your own.

I have only worn flip flops and Birkenstocks all week.

Never seen or experienced this and I am “large”
but those planes are tiny and I understand they have to balance the weight for everyone’s safety.

Yes, I think the weighing the passenger routine is saved for particularly large people, not just slightly over weight. But the scales are there as a threat!

We weren't in an all inclusive so the second time we went I took a bottle of squash for DC and some snacks with me which saved a lot of money.
