Passport for South Africa

Does anyone know if there's any guidance on passport age for South Africa.

When we go this summer I'll still have 8 months till it expires. BUT my passport was issued in June 2014 so it will be over 10 years.. ( extra months were added when I changed my name)

I know EU countries need a passport to have 6 months validity AND be no older than 10 yrs. Can't find it there's a similar rule for South Africa and keem to avoid any extra expense if I don't need to renew just yet.

I'm not sure about the over 10 years issue. But on gov.com it says a passport needs to be valid for 30 days after your return date. My daughters passport expires in August and we are going in a few weeks time. But should be fine
