Day trip to Lego House Billund

Has anyone travelled to Billund for the day to the Lego House?

Hubbie is a massive fan of lego and I think he'd enjoy going.

We're close to Stansted Airport so can get there easily - the first flight doesn't seem land til 11:30. We wouldn't need any luggage.. flight home is 22:25.

Entry to the lego house seems to be timed so that might be an issue if the flight is delayed getting there.

Thanks

its Easily doable, it’s about 15mins from the airport and there’s a free airport bus you can jump on. My kids and husband loved it but the food was shocking!

We thought we’d arrive late and phoned ahead they were very accommodating. I don’t think you’d lose your booking it’s just to spread people out so the experience is better. There is so so much to do and see! And it shuts about 4-4.30. There are restaurants nearby you could walk to and you could probably walk to airport too! I had brilliant food in the Lego restaurant, the one you book for. Couldn’t fault it! I think you could do it fine and just phone and let them know if you’re late.

Definitely doable since the airport is so close. You'd probably get better food at a nearby restaurant...there are some just a minute or two walking from Lego House. Enjoy, it's brilliant! The basement is fab for Lego fans, don't miss that

stonkytonk11 · 28/02/2024 21:21

Only thing is if you land at 11.30 you're only getting the afternoon there. You would probably find a whole day is needed. If plane delayed then you could miss out.

Very doable but if he is an Adil he might want more time.

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 28/02/2024 21:48

It’s doable but why not stay for a night and make a bit more of it? You can easily spend a full day there - we would have happily gone back for a second day!

We found the Lego restaurant food perfectly fine - and a lot of fun with the robots and way you order the food etc.

Needmorelego · 28/02/2024 22:04

I know a few folks who have done it. Apparently it's a very exhausting day. If you had been before and are just popping over for a specific event then it's not so bad but for a first time you'd want longer.
Personally I would stay overnight and fly back the next day (or even 2 nights).

@justasmalltownmum we're "afols" - not "adils" 🙂

You will be knackered but it's doable.

shreknjumps · 28/02/2024 23:13

I don't know why you would really. If he's that into it then stay a couple of nights and make the most of it. By the time you get there and get in you'll have about 3/4 hours in the house. Not long at all.

Havanananana · 29/02/2024 14:22

Someone posted exactly the same question on Tripadvisor - and the consensus was that you'd have too little time to visit Lego House if you only arrived at Billund at 11.30. Even if the flight lands on time and you breeze through passport control you won't get to Lego House much before 12.30 and Lego House closes at 16.00 (or at 17.00 from late June). Assuming that you'd also want to eat something, that gives you less than 3 hours to visit a place that is worth an entire day (or even two) if you want to do all of the really cool stuff like the animation studio.

As pp^ suggest, take the flight the evening before and stay at somewhere like the Zleep hotel next to the airport, then you'll have time for breakfast (the Zleep breakfast buffet is very good) before walking over to Lego House ready for when it opens at 10.00.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/03/2024 13:27

If he's a massive fan then stay at hotel Legoland or the Lego Castle hotel. Depending when you come to can go to Legoland for free in the evening when the rides start to close.

Thanks for the replies.
We're now flying to Copenhagen on Friday and get the train to billund on the Saturday evening ready for a day at lego house on Sunday !
Just need to finalise the Airbnb for billund and the flight out and the train and the bus and a hotel for Copenhagen.... haha but we're getting there!

@mysparkleismissing To get from Copenhagen to Billund you need to take the train from CPH to Vejle, then a bus from Vejle (the bus station and railway station are adjacent) to Billund. Details (in English) are on Rejseplanen.dk

The good-value Zleep Hotel has been rebranded as the Billund Airport Hotel.

Have you booked your tickets for Lego House? You must do this in advance to be sure of getting in, particularly at the weekend.

mysparkleismissing · 14/05/2024 06:52

Yes we have our lego house tickets 🙂

We've decided to Airbnb this trip as it is literally a bed we want.
