Cheaper versions of the Caribbean Islands?

We love the Caribbean but as a holiday destination it’s a bit too rich for us. We can afford it but not the level of comfort we’d like from a holiday.

Can anyone recommend a similar vibe destination? Not Europe as looking for more tropical feel.

Mauritius?

Where in the Caribbean? The islands are totally different? If you want warmth in the winter you could try the Canary Islands. Is it the beaches you like, the weather, the food?

I've never been to the Carribean, so can't give a proper comparison, but Thailand has some reasonably priced accommodation, stunning beaches etc. I've also heard good things about Vietnam and Cambodia.

Mauritius is just as expensive lol.
I'd say Cyprus - there's a love part I've been to multiple times near to Aiya Napa but away from the hype - Nissi Beach. The beach is clear blue with almost white sand and beautiful weather. A short walk away you can find other very quiet beaches - all with sun chairs, brollies and snacks.

Ohh just saw not EU! Scrub that then.

What level of 'comfort' what is your budget? The issue with the tropics is that flight prices have skyrocketed - as PP says there are budget accommodation but the flight prices are high. Mexico - the Yucatan peninsular is prob best bet if you want warm water, tropical resort etc but it is not a bargain, nothing is anymore.

why not try the cheaper Caribbean islands such as Tobago or domican republic?

FinallyFeb · 26/02/2024 15:51

What’s your budget and how much luxury are we talking?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 26/02/2024 19:41

Dubai

noeragg · 26/02/2024 22:26

Dubai is the antithesis of the Caribbean

Have you looked at the Dominican Republic, that's cheapish.

BIWI · 28/02/2024 08:55

What kind of holiday do you like though? And how much do you actually want to spend?

If you are OK with flight time to Asia it is very good value for money once you get there. Everyone raves about Sri Lanka.

I love Malaysia, food is out of this world.
