Most holidays since kids have been France or Spain with rental cottages.
We've done a couple of hotels and last year did our first AI.
We went to Canaries and I didn't mind it but the kids loved it. Both loved talking to new people and youngest was like a social butterfly. We've now got a very much pre teen and teen and I don't fancy going back there again but equally know they won't want to go self catering again unless it's on a complex someone.
Food wise they eat a lot so AI is good and I like a drink of an evening but equally want to be able to wander out elsewhere of an evening and get out and about on trips. The trips made the holiday ok for me as id have hated staying in one place all week even though lots of families seemed perfectly happy there all week and fully embraced the entertainment and activities. My family is quite shy (other than DS2!) so group activities weren't for us but we do like to be busy with only the odd pool morning or afternoon. Money is sadly very much a factor - August budget of £3.5k doesn't buy much and I'm tempted to do some work on the r house and have a week in Airbnb in Uk. I appreciate to be In a position to go on holiday is a privilege but hoping as this is on the holidays board it's ok to ask. Any ideas ? Thank you 🙏
