Portugal in May

I know no one has a crystal ball but has anyone been to the Algarve in May (thinking around the 20th) and can advise on the weather? Hoping for sunbathing weather in the day and no need for more than a light jacket on an evening but don't know whether that might be too optimistic. Considering Lagos or Alvor. Anyone any suggestions/advice on which might be best. Me and DH and DC's 11 and 13. Anything that can aid my indecision would be greatly appreciated Flowers

My parents are in Portugal now and it’s 21 most days, they said it’s definitely warm enough for short sleeve top but couldn’t bathe outside

Could be anything from 17 and rain to 30 and sunny. Impossible to tell. Although odds are that it will be t shirt weather but too chilly to swim.

We did Lagos in may a few years ago and it was sunny enough to sunbathe. A couple of cooler moments, but generally very warm and pleasant. Of course, like you say, it’s the luck of the draw.

We went to Tavira on the Algarve a couple of years ago in May half term and it was generally tshirt and short weather plus swimming in the sea and a day at a water park. It rained one day but was still warm. Hope that helps
