Which Greek island

Can anyone recommend a Greek island for May. 2 adults and 3 kids (8,9 and 11 month old).

I think Crete ticks all boxes, not sure about the other islands. Also is it best to hire a car or can you stay in one town say and explore everything in that town and other towns are accessible?

we normally like to hire a car but with a baby in tow now I’m not sure we will be going out and about as much.

also do they have resort hotels or better to do self catering? I don’t mind resorts so I don’t have to think about food for the kids. But I like eh idea of a villa/ apartment so we have a kitchen etc.

What were the boxes? You forgot to mention them! Hard to recommend an island without knowing what you want.

Most islands have some "resort" hotels that have family aprtments which also have small kitchen areas.

PS - Crete is quite big for exploring with young ones in tow. Especially if relying on public transport.

We've done a number of greek islands with small children. We've done Zakynthos which we didn't like because we stayed in Laganas which was a big resort. We've also done Rhodes, I'd recommend Pefkos for young kids. If you want to do something different the Kos is good you can go to an island which is a walk in volcano, I only got halfway down to the crater because my eyes watered so badly but DH and the boys made it. This also leads to a beach which has bubbles coming up from the sea floor.
