Are you anywhere near a ferry port to the continent? They sometimes do fab deals in the Dutch/Belgian ones. You will have to factor in the travel costs of course.

If you risk it and are a bit flexible in dates/where you want to go you can get really good deals.

We had a weekend in the German one for 50euros (6person bungalow) and a weekend in Holland for 150euros.

They do last minute discounts. We've sometimes phoned on a wednesday or thursday to go that friday and got it at great discount - perhaps 40% off. It just depends what they've got at the time.
