Baby's First U.K. Passport - Help!

I just have my son's passport pic taken at Max Speilman. He is only 4 weeks old and was fast asleep. Eyes closed...comatose!

The lady said the pic would be fine as according to U.K. passport rules, if the applicant is under 1 it doesn't matter that the eyes are closed. What concerns me about this is that if the passport of valid for 5 years..he will look nothing like his passport photo. I should also add that my son is mixed race and is likely he will get darker and look completely different in a few weeks.

Am I best to wait and take a picture when his features have developed more?

We are due to travel in April. Any advice welcome..

I wouldn't worry. My daughter had her US passport photo taken age 10 days and it was accepted for travel when she was over 4 without a blink of an eye by UK Border Force, so I'm sure it will be fine.

My DD was 1 month old and she was screaming her face off. Didn't need her passport until she was 1.5y so now I wish I had waited. As you will need it quite soon I would t wait in case there is delay at the passport office.

DS' foreign passport was valid for 10 years. He's now over 5ft tall and happily travels all over the world with passport where he looks like a potato, height listed as 53cm.

DDs is like that. She’s 4 now but her pic is of a newborn with her eyes shut. We travel a lot, and it’s always fine.

If the guidance on the passport office website says eyes shut for under 1s is OK, just get it sent off ASAP.
