Hi all we are booking our first hol with DS. We want to go in April when he will be 11mo. Cape Verde or Canaries, any experience/advice?

I may be wrong but I think Cape Verde tends to attract couples or people with older children? At 11 months, the Canaries are a really safe bet. (Someone may come along & correct me though 😉).

We’ve just booked our first holiday in June with baby DS who will be 16 months at the time, we settled on Majorca but looked into Cape Verde and the consensus was not good for kids as it’s extremely boring for them with nothing to do other than beach/pool. This was a problem for us as we also have a 10 year old but I think with a baby that should be entertainment enough?

We took our eldest to Gran Canaria when he was about 3 and that was fab, we said we’d go again one day.

depends on how good an eater your child is. We went to CV when my daughter was about 4, she turned her nose up at most of it.
id stick to canaries personally

CV is the dullest place on earth.

I would not risk taking a young child to Cape Verde - only very basic medical care available there, you have to be flown to the Canary Islands for treatment.

Cape verde is a bit of a honeymoon destination. The Canaries have some lovely family friendly hotels and resorts and would not be too hot in April.
Also agree with the medical facilities which is why I would never go to CV.

Don’t go to CV with a young child. They’ll be bored to tears. Watch Jayne McDonald’s Tv programme about it on Channel 5, or 4 I can’t remember which one. Gives a good feel for what it’s like.

And yes medical stuff is a nightmare. I think there’s one small doctors which only treats basic things like you’d see a pharmacist for in the U.K.

Canaries definitely.
Wouldn't recommend CV for a honeymoon either tbh!
