Solo trip: abroad or UK? Help me to plan!!

just looking for some ideas…

I want to book a solo holiday for myself at the end of September, for a chance to relax, read, drink nice drinks, eat nice food, swim/spa. I am not bothered by sightseeing; this is purely for rest and relaxation away from my family as a chance to decompress from work and fsmily life. My husband is very supportive of this as he goes away annually with his friends. I had thought about going away with mine, but have decided I think I just want uninterrupted sleep and peace! Therefore whereevr I go should ideally be adults only and geared towards chilling out.

my dilemma is I have no idea where to go! Budget is flexible but around 1000-1200 pounds, and I’d like to go away midweek into the weekend at the end of Sep or start of Aug, for up to 4 nights.

My local airport is LHR but can get to LGW, Bournemouth or Southampton easily. Ideally no more than 4/5 hr flight due to length of time away.. but again could be swayed for the right location!

i have a car, or can take the train to a UK destination.

I would like to treat myself a little, so for a Uk based place could do 2 nights to increase the hotel quality.

Does anyone have any ideas? Recommendations!? I’ve never done this before so have no idea where to start..

any help welcome!!!

My first thought was a cruise, and lots go from Southampton.

I hadn’t thought a cruise - I will have a look, although I get seasick quite easily 🤣

any other thoughts from anyone? 🙏

With your brief think I’d choose around 4 nights in an all inclusive adult only hotel with a spa in Greece or Turkey.

I did a similar trip last year and I went to Tunisia for a change as I fancied some sightseeing as well as spa time. I went for 4 nights.

I think because of solo supplements a cruise may come out over budget or at least that’s what I’ve found when I’ve looked for myself.

I posted this the other day too! Looking at the same time but only 3 nights, I was advised Malaga. I’ve had a quick look and it does look like it’ll tick all the boxes. I literally want some warmth / sun, a good book and nice food. A spa / massage too if possible but honestly just time to myself to have no responsibility for a few days and sleep!

I did Parga alone, it was fantastic. Great food, lots of walking, friendly people. Porto was also excellent. Actually, I've never been disappointed with anywhere I've been alone!

@Fran92 Malaga is fantastic. I feel very safe there and the locals are so hospitable! Great public transport too.

I recommend Nice, Marbella old town or the Algarve. I wouldn't go to somewhere in the Uk in case of rain which is a bit miserable - far nicer to be pretty much guaranteed sun and sit by a pool or outside a cafe / restaurant or beach.

Malaga or Valencia

Ibiza - the Aguas de Ibiza hotel in Santa Eulalia is fantastic. It has two pools (including one on the roof!), a spa, and two restaurants. It's far from the party part of the island in a lovely small town with a beach. You can walk along the coast to other towns as well.

Ragdale Hall if you're happy to just hole up somewhere? Plenty of other solo visitors, lots of places to read, the grounds to wander if you fancy, food is all included. You can properly swim in the main pool plus there's all the other pools, the classes are varied and you can have a couple of treatments. You don't even have to get dressed while you're there if you don't want to.
