French train strikes. WWYD

DH is taking DS skiing in Austria by train this weekend. They’re arriving in London at 6pm on Friday (due to engineering works the next day), then getting the Eurostar and train through France on Saturday.

The French train strikes mean that DH might only find their train is cancelled as they’re about to leave our city.

WWYD in these circumstances? The accommodation is non-refundable.

Assuming that a flight and rental car will be extremely expensive if available at this point, I would explore if driving is feasible (and I wouldn't drive to a ski resort without snow chains that I know how to put on and take off again).

And I would also call my travel insurance to see if you can get anything back if you don't travel due to the train strikes.

Good luck!

Thank you @Bandol . We don’t have a car and DH will be about to get on the train to London when they announce any cancellations. But he’s looked at flights from London to Innsbruck now and had calmed down.
