Christmas in the UK

I am turning 50 at Christmas and would like to spend it somewhere nice in the UK.
We are 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a medium sized dog. We need at least 2 double rooms, ideally one double and 2 singles. I am dreaming of a super cosy country hotel but a very cosy cottage with an amazing pub in walking distance would be fine, too.
Price range flexible, as it is for a special day, but not crazy expensive.
Is there anywhere you can recommend?

Where are you based in the UK and how far would you like to travel? And what's the top end you'd be happy to spend per night?

The Stagg Inn at Titley

The U.K. is a very big place. Where are you willing to travel?

Do you currently live in the U.K. or will you be coming from abroad?

In terms of cottages the National Trust have some beautiful ones in lovely locations. Definitely worth a browse.

We are based in London and willing to travel for 4-5 hours.
@TheLeadbetterLife I have had a look, but it says temporarily closed for the Stagg Inn 🙁

Their website says opening again in the spring. Maybe they’re refurbing.

it’s a fabulous place - beautiful rooms, amazing restaurant and dog friendly.

How about Shere? What's more festive than staying where they filmed The Holiday?

Staying here vaughansbnb.co.uk/amenities and then walking for dinner here www.thebray.net

The pub they filmed inside is also right there in the little village a few doors down from The Bray but it's not nearly as nice.

I've stayed in a few pubs with rooms across Derbyshire over the years, look at Bakewell, hassop, Buxton ... budget makes a huge difference. Stayed in a cute cottage in great long stone Derbyshire

@mitogoshi It’s my 50th and Christmas - I am willing to splash out! Are there any places in particular that you would recommend?

@BobblyJumpers I have never seen The Holiday, but this looks fab!

Oh you must! It's a lovely film.

I've been to Shere and the pub they filmed in, and a few other places nearby I was going to suggest, but I see the B&B have a great summary of things to do nearby as well if you're looking for ideas.

vaughansbnb.co.uk/facilities

Silent Pool Gin Distillery located down the road is very popular as well
