Summer holidays that aren't too hot

Two years ago we went to Majorca in the summer and it was far too hot for us. Last year we went to the lake district and the weather wasn't great.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for somewhere that usually has pleasant weather in the summer? Would need to be somewhere we can fly to as well, driving and boats are both out.

We are restricted to school holidays so could also go abroad in February, April or October but I think it's only really the canaries that are warm enough then unless we brave long haul?

Jersey should be pleasant. Short flight or a ferry too

France, if you don't go too far South

I don't like too much heat, either.

The trouble is, with climate change it's very difficult to tell what the temperature will be.

Recently I've been to Sardinia in June when the average daytime temperature is supposed to be 21 degrees C - it was over 30 most days and sometimes 36 / 37.

Similarly Porto end September, supposedly 21 degrees C - well above that, and 32 by the end of the week.

We are going to Jersey this summer! Hopefully it fits the brief but I'm bored and cold today so researching different options for 2025 to look forward to 😊

I would go in October - can still be warm and sunny in places like Valencia, South of France, Southern Italy

Or in the summer go to the Alps - lots of do for kids and not as hot as mainland Europe (although it can get into the late 20s / early 30s if you go somewhere with shaded hikes it doesn't feel like it and lots of resorts have outdoor pools to cool off.

The Alps - Austria, France or Italy - are warm and sunny without (usually) getting too hot, and are easily reached by plane. Loads of things to do for kids in places like Saalbach in Austria, or Lake Constance on the German/Austrian border, or around the Italian lakes like Lake Garda.

Denmark and southern Sweden, and the German or Polish Baltic coasts are also nice in the summer, with plenty to do as well as the beaches. Temperatures around 25-30 deg.
