Any cruise experts who could advise?

Hello,
Growing up with my parents we cruised all the time and I LOVED them. However I haven't been on one for 25 years, so I could do with some advice as my knowledge is seriously out of date!

Next year it's my 40th and I REALLY want to go on a cruise. My husband has never cruised before and hates the idea, but has agreed to try. My daughter will be almost 7.

It would be end July / early august. Ideally a one week cruise with a one week stay after somewhere. Definitely warm, and lots of stops (I never liked the days at sea.) I'm thinking not too big a ship due to grumpy husband 😂

Budget of £10,000 to include everything.

Where would you go and what cruise liners please?

I would say yes watch the you tube videos etc because they help you decide things you need to pack etc but also use the info but make your own decisions. I know you have selected your cruise and I think you have made a great choice but have you selected your cabin?

I made a choice I regretted on Iona because of something I'd seen on YouTube. Everyone was saying don't go for deck 8 so I didn't and when I got there I wish I had because the promenade deck thing wouldn't have bothered me but the queues for the lifts did. I would have spent less time in lift queues on deck 8.

Celebrity is my favourite so far, sophisticated but also less formal cruise, good for adults. Food was fantastic. It was a 2 week Caribbean cruise and we loved it.

ROC fantastic ships especially for families, lots to do, I thought the food let it down a bit in the main dinning room down, Buffet was excellent and we dinned a fair bit in one of the smaller buffet restaurant. We did the Med and Holy Land Cruise, the ports were great and we met a great bunch of people. I would say best for families.

So I would say you have the best of both worlds.

@Whsthappensnow we are actually on deck 8 but I don't think it's the promenade deck on our ship (adventure of the seas)

Enjoy your trip. RCI are great for kids. Also get yourself onto cruise critic and the RCI boards and possibly your roll call.

We’ve cruised around 12 times. 4 with Disney - absolutely superb. The rest Celebrity. Also very good. Our october cruise is with Regent.

For those recommending Celebrity just be aware that on Edge class ships unless you are in a suite or have managed to get a sunset veranda the ‘infinite veranda’ are not proper balconies.

They are basically a huge window that opens and that the captain can close at any time.

On other classes of Celebrity ships we go for a standard room or Aqua class. Edge class if we can’t get a sunset veranda then we always go for a suite and hope we can get a guarantee.

We had the infinite veranda and I liked it as it gave us more space in the room with a nice breeze as the window came down

That’s interesting
our friends did not stop complaining!

In my opinion definitely not marella. I love the big royal caribbean ships, loads for kids to do. Not been on the smaller ones though. Celebrity is posher/great good but will be less children on board. They still have a kids club though. Disney is amazing for kids, I loved the food! And attention to detail around the ship is lovely.. but might not be for you 🤣 although my very non disney husband loves them. Haven't tried NCL or holland america but have heard good things

Oh also wouldn't recommend MSC either
