When we lived in Texas our children were very young so we didn't get a chance to explore Austin's famous music scene. I'd say do some research and go and see/hear some music.
Curious as to why you've chosen Austin - I assume you must be based on the states?

Further west, one of the most fabulous places I've ever been was Big Bend National Park and then the whole area around Maria and the Davis Mountains. The vistas! The vibe. Amazing.

Mid March the rodeo is on in Houston (about 2 hours drive away). It’s a massive event including some big name bands, albeit mostly country, and is the most Texan thing ever. I know it’s not Austin itself but it’s one of my most memorable things I did in Texas.

I second the rodeo. Also Austen is in Hill Country and I reckon that'll be the start of bluebonnet and wildflower season. Lots of German type towns around too (can't remember their names it's been so many years!).

You know what? Adults only? I'd major in music. It's a big music town - country, tejano, blues. There'll be loads of venues and bars. It's akin to Nashville but on a smaller scale.
We had small children when we lived in Texas so did very little music. But it was a THiNG. Or thang

Does anyone have experience of ProRodeo in Austin?
it’s on this afternoon so we plan on going and will head to the airport from there.

I'm wondering if it will be a bum fight to leave the car park (Im remember trying to leave Wembley after a concert years ago and it taking over 2 hours to get out of the car park 😮)
