hi,i'm looking for what seems to be a contradiction in terms! a 5* luxury "family friendly" hotel, with gym and sport for DH, spa and tennis for moi, and pref creche for toddler and min babysitting for new baby.
someone has told me there is a new hotel that fits the bill in tenerife -anyone heard of it? or any other suitable hotels in europe??
thanks

Hi not nigella

Did you have any luck with booking a holiday x

marmadukescarlet · 27/03/2008 10:10

Ok Notnigella, I'm looking for similar...

We have done these...

This has the best childcare facilities/manager I have come accross yet. The Ark is a fab building and the care is excellent, DS (then 2.10) has SN and they assigned him his favourite nursery worker as his 1 to 1 and she changed her day off so she could babysit when we wanted to go out for our wedding anniversary - how's that for personal service. Excellent Spa, decent gym, golf course, tennis, beautiful grounds. Food was great too either buffet or something from the menu as a choice every night, including cooking DCs food to order. We went with Amanthus Holidays, was much cheaper than Scott Dunn (or whoever else went there)

Last year we stayed here The Almyra

The childcare facilities were not so good here, the food was fine, I wasn't keen on Phapos (a bit too 'English' and full of timeshare touts). I had a meeting with the manager after discovering that the childcare was really not as promised in the literature, they did pull their fingers out after. (It was boring so no children went, so they never arranged anything - viscous circle) When DS was ill they really pushed the boat out with DVDs and cards, teddies and fruit made into faces for both children sent for both children.

We haven't been here for 3 yrs

Punta Prima Menorca We have been here 3 times in the past 7 years, it was the first lovely holiday we found after a disasterous, filthy, 10 mth old DD admitted to hospital farce of a Mark Warner holiday. On our last visit there (when I was 30 weeks with DS) we met a family who we had met on the disaterous MW holiday, their DD was also admitted to hospital on the way back from the airport. This place was there next venture abroad (4 years!) and they had already decided to return the next year. It may be getting 'tired' now. I just got a price for half board in the Prestige apartments for 10 days from 13 July and it is over £7K, so back to the standard apartments for us!

I hope someone comes up with another sugestion as we are desperate.

Porto Sani are not booking for when we want to go, the following 10 days are £9k+

Hyatt Las Lomas apartments are also £5K

We need a reasonable, fairly luxurious holiday with good childcare...anybody?

Hi notnigella, an acquaintance of mine's sister started a travel agency called Essential Escapes which is all about spas and luxury and lovely things, they also do one called Tots Too (www.totstoo.com) which is still all about spas and luxury and lovely things but how to have that all with the kiddies along! Haven't used them (pregnant with first child!) but was very excited when she told me about the website as had been imagining my luxury hotel days over before they'd even begun! Have checked out the website and it looks lovely. Hope this helps and you find somewhere nice!
P.S Mumsnet - this wasn't an ad, just thought the site looked so nice and it fit the bill. It's not my company, nor am I getting discounted holidays if I get them customers... though that's an idea !

Not Nigella,

I'd really recommend the Forte Village in Sardinia

It's excellent. Very child friendly but also very high quality.

Whooosh · 05/04/2008 22:18

We've just booked two weeks here

Not mad keen on location but after months of research it seems to tick all the boxes and is constantly praised for it's children's facilities.

notnigella · 09/04/2008 20:22

many thanks for all the suggestions, still havent booked anything but pleasantly surprised that there seems to be so much out there that fits the bill, well done mumsnetters for saving me hours of internet searching!

sardinia is coming up time and again, both forte village and meridien. i looked into las lomas as la manga as we have been there before, but never in peak season when the prices are shocking. have been to crete and sardinia a couple of times before, so wld ideally like to try somewhere else, but the totstoo website had a couple of potentials, so thats a good tip too.

good luck to all those looking for similar, and pls remember to update this post with your destination of choice for future reference

If you thought Las Lomas were expensive you will faint at the Forte Village peak prices!

mousemole · 14/04/2008 19:29

We went to La Manga and got a private villa. You can still use the creche and all the facilities but it was SOOOOO much cheaper than the Hyatt !

Abama Tenerife? I've been there - could you mean that? www.abamahotelresort.com
