Javea in Spain

Has anyone been to Javea on the Costa Blanca? I'd be going with my 2 dc, 9 & 12. Apart from the beach is there much to do, day trips etc? My impression is that it's not too 'brits abroad' is that right?

I used to live not far away, but it was a few years ago so it might have changed.

The "Brits abroad" are ex-pats who live there, or holiday home owners. Also popular with other Northern Europeans.
As I remember, no package tours went there. You'd almost certainly need a car to go anywhere. It's a nice place, but might be a bit too quiet for the DC.

I hope someone can give you a more up-to-date response.

Lovely place, Spanish tend to go for hols. Nice sea front. Denia is the next town which is nice too, good restaurant street. Head inland to the villages, lovely walks in orange groves. Each inland village has its own pool open in summer and they are beautiful.

Looking into it, hoping there are water sports like boats or snorkelling

Spent many a holiday there and it’s great. Nice beach too.

Yes to water sports! Plenty. It really is a nice place. The parador on the front is lovely for a cuppa in the garden. Hire a car and go to the forests nearby. Get up early and climb Montgo. Eat lots of seafood! Seafood auction on denia front is fun, grab yourself some fresh prawns! Find out when fiestas are on in the villages, very fun. Definitely find a good tapas bar.
attilathe meerkat I know your name from your help when I posted under a previous name, how nice to think we know the same area!

Oh, go karting good for kids.

It's very nice, lots of Spanish tourists. If you like walking Montgo is nice. Nice beach with water sports. Day trip to Valencia including the BioParc - brilliant for kids that age and the city is lovely. Day trip to Cullera water park.

There are plenty of Brits in Javea, just not the stereotype 'brits abroad' ones. There are a lot of second home owners playing bridge in the afternoon types.
It's a nice area & has good inexpensive food. Definitely hire a car.

@Chewbecca it's only the working class brits abroad which MNers are worried about !

Hi there. Any family friendly restaurant recommendations in Javea and Denia? We are going at half term. Bonus if good with allergies!

Thanks
