Smallish hotel in Greece/Croatia with “private” beach?

Looking for a family trip to Greece or Croatia in August… I know both will be heaving at that time and I don’t relish fighting for space on the beach. But we all love the sea.

I am wondering if there are hotels that have, effectively, a nice beach to themselves due to their position. (I know beaches are all public legally). Or a large section of the beach at least.

Much prefer smaller quieter hotels and low built rather than high rise. Ideally with some low key watersports etc for tween DC. Budget fairly generous but not Ikos level.

any suggestions? Appreciate you may want to keep such gems to yourself!!

White Rocks, Kefalonia. You’d have to go to the next beach for water sports, but it’s right next to the hotel.

Acrotel Athena Pallas is a nice smallish family-friendly hotel. It has a private beach but it’s shingle. Also worth looking at Poseidon of Paros, which is right on a quiet sandy beach.

Thank you. Doesn’t need to be a sandy beach! I quite like a pebble beach.

Forgot to say - prefer not AI - we quite like finding local places to eat at least some of the time.

Another vote for white rocks Kefalonia. Lovely little pebble beach. We used to swim round to a little sandy cove. Short taxi ride into the main town

Just looked at white rocks kefalonia and 11 nights in June for a two adults and a 3 year old would be over 6 grand 😅

From memory there's a hotel (or hotels) like this on the Lapad peninsula 10 mins outside Dubrovnik. Hotel President or something like that? I was staying in an apartment nearby and noticed it while out for a run. It was so much nice staying in this area compared to the old town too.

We stayed in Valamar President as PP has mentioned. It has a rocky beach that was never very busy when we went in June last year. Hotel is brilliant and has an outdoor swimming pool facing on to the beach if it does get busy. Bus outside the hotel takes you into Dubrovnik old town in 15 minutes.

Thanks everyone, looking now

Ooh White Rocks looks very nice. We usually stay somewhere a little more rustic but could be tempted… DC are old enough these days not to trash the decor 😆

We just walked up the hill (if you can call it that) to the town, lots of bars/restaurants on the main road. Never needed a taxi.

Hotel philoxenia on Paros. Not super straightforward to get to (no direct flights) but absolute bliss.

I meant the capital Argostoli, we went on a few boat trips and also to see the turtles in the harbour. We didn't really do much in lassi itself. Good luck in your hunt OP. And yes to the poster who mentioned the cost.......it is bonkers and keeps creeping up

Any of the Ikos resorts. We stayed at Ikos Aria in Kos last year. Beach was pebbly getting into the sea but beautiful thick loungers on the beach and a constant supply of drinks/food delivered to you. Also a nice island you could take a pedalo to and snorkel.

They're not cheap but they're all inclusive and a very high level of service.

Oops sorry, just reread your post again and you said not Ikos budget. You can get cheaper stays at Ikos if you pick and choose a bit (we paid £3k for Andalusia in October and £6k for Aria in the summer holidays if that helps).
