Malaysia 28/10-2/11

Hi
i know the dates are quite specific 🫣but im really struggling with what to do! We are in between monsoon season and I thought i had my heart set on Borneo which i have wanted to go to forever BUT we would like some beach time and it looks like the nice beaches are all where FCO recommend not to go!! We have been to Langkawi pre kids and travelled Malaysia decades ago but never done Borneo.
any ideas? Our choices are

kl 2 days (Batu Caves and a mooch around the city plus towers) Then fly to Sandakan in Borneo, 2 days there seeing Orang Utans and Sunbears then Kintabagan River for 3 days 2 nights then? We have 6 more days and I’ll like to avoid too many flights due time and expense OR

KL 2 days then mooch up the East Coast but I think we may be a bit late for the islands! Originally looked at Tioman but weather looks iffy and a long way to go if ferries cancelled etc. just been looking at Tanjong Jara but we’d need 2 rooms and just not sure. OR

2 days KL, a few in Georgetown then beach resort in Penang OR

2 days KL then Langkawi ( prob least favoured option as we’ve done it!)

Hi - 2 days in KL and then Penang sounds good. Or you could also consider 2 days in KL and the rest in Sarawak (Kuching and the surrounding area). Lots to do in Kuching - check out Bako National ParK (good for hiking and scenery), Orang Utan at Semenggoh, Sarawak Musuem, Damai Beach Resort (not what it used to be but still good i think) and Lundu.

all booked now, we’re going to kk for a few nights then mantanani, kinbatangan and Sepilok, finishing with a few days in KL. Penang looked wet! We’ll definitely think about Sarawak for another trip! Thanks again

The Tanjong Jara is lovely, i'm going for the third time in two weeks for Easter, I would do that. The weather will be fine, it never really rains all day here, just for part of the day and usually the afternoon.
