Mums 70th family hol recommendations

Hello,

Would be grateful for recommendations for my mum’s 70th; which includes 2 couples & gc (currently 15months, 2.5, 4.5, 6 ,8). We can fly July - Sep (aiming for July if it’s a summer holiday in Europe).

We’ve never holidayed as a family, & my mum hasn’t travelled much (neither have I tbh) so this will be an extra special treat. Don’t want to stay in an airbnb or somewhere we have to clean; something a bit nicer would be ideal, or half board etc…

What are your recommendations please. It needs to be hot enough to swim & tan, but not overly hot as my mother won’t enjoy that. Enjoyable for the kids & adults. Don’t mind exploring. Open to long haul.

I was considering Majorca, Crete, Mexico for further afield. Would have loved the Caribbean, but from what I’ve read its not the best for very young dc.

Ruling out the Canaries, Portugal, Egypt, Morocco, Dubai, anywhere arid.

Crete is likely to be around 40° in July, so if you don't want boiling I would honestly write off the whole of Greece. I can understand why you're similarly writing off Egypt, Morocco and Dubai, but the Canaries and Portugal are cooler in the summer, due to being on the Atlantic. The Canaries are around 30°, Portugal similar. Majorca as a destination would be good, but it could be very hot if 2024 is anything like 2023.

So, in short, if you want a nice summer temps, but not absolutely boiling, my recommendations would be Portugal, Madeira, the Canaries, possibly the west coast of France and northern Spain.

The Italian lakes. There are some very family hotels around Garda.

All those destinations will be boiling in July. I've done create Stella Palace in June and it was so hot. Mexico is hot most of the year. The others will be too.

Can you holiday in May?

Some excellent hotels in Turkey but again the heat will be sniffling in those months you've listed.

I KNOW everyone suggests this on every holiday thread but a cruise really would be great for your mixed age group.
The kids are really cheap to take as 3rd and 4th people in a cabin. Its basically a 5 star hotel but with the benefit of visiting lovely places. No worries about finding places to eat that will suit you all from the early risers to the middle of the night.
Fjords might be a good shout ( its an expensive part of the world to diy and they are banning cruise ships imminently. Otherwise you can fly cruise to the US and do Mexico or the Caribbean that way? If she hasn't travelled much you could tick lots of places off her bucket list.

Thank you for your insight, that’s helpful. We’ve done Portugal, Madeira & the Canaries.

The only other time would be Easter for travelling, which falls on 31 March this year.
