Off on holiday next week. We only have hand luggage as short trip. Will I be able to take a handbag too?

I've done it. I believe it depends on how rammed the cabin is and whether they're in a bad mood, but I've never been stopped.

What have you paid for? If you’ve paid for speedy boarding or are an EasyJet plus member, then you get a large cabin bag in addition to the under seat bag which everyone has. If not then it’s just one bag per person. I’ve seen it enforced many times.

As long as your handbag can fit into your bigger bag, then you should be fine, as you can combine them when boarding. If not they’ll likely make you pay to check your larger bag if they are conducting bag check. Having all large bags being part of speedy boarding makes it easier to check, as everyone without speedy boarding can only have one bag. The size of your handbag matters too. If it’s a small crossbody bag you could zip a coat over, you’re more likely to get away with it than a huge tote.

It’s inconsistently enforced, but as it’s their policy, they’re within their rights to do it.

It's an across body one, reckon can conceal it in my coat! Thanks for the replies.

I always have a small cross body bag and haven’t been asked to put it into my main bag for ages. A few years ago I was asked every time.

It just makes life harder for everyone if they enforce it because people then don’t have their documents to hand slowing everything down. This is my explanation to myself for why they’ve stopped bothering with it.

I took a cross body bag slightly concealed under my jacket. Flew with easyjet four times last year and it was fine.

We went to jersey late last year. I was told to put my handbag into my carry on, under seat bag when I was boarding. They were quite strict. A lot of people were told to do the same. Coming back we weren’t checked.

You are a bag of duty free too. If you buy something in the duty free put your handbag in there.
I have also been asked to put my small handbag in my other bag while boarding. It really depends on how crowded the plane is.

I know they need to create rules but it is kind of crazy. Some small cross body bags are smaller than the pockets on cargo pants and way smaller than some massive bulky multi pocket coat people wear.
