Annecy end of August?

Quite specific I know but we are looking at going camping in Annecy this summer and the campsites are all booked up until the end of August - last week is still available. If anyone has been then will it still be comfortable / dry enough for pleasant camping? I’m much more of a warm weather camper than a cold one. Have done Cornwall in the rain many times and we are going to France to try to avoid British weather! Last year in the Vendee the climate was perfect but not very scenic and have a hankering for lakes this time (9 year old autistic and not overly keen on beaches) .

I went to Annecy August Bank Holiday last year and the weather was not good at all from memory it was warmer in the uk !

The weather was really miserable it was freezing we had sleet / rain and a really cold wind and it was very overcast it's really put me off ever going at that time of year again .

What a shame, we went last August to Annecy and it was ridiculously hot, i think the weather broke on the day we left mid August. I would say it was exhausting the heat, even the locals were complaining. I think last years weather was rather unusual.
Hade you considered Austria @TedLasto , zell am see was beautiful and worth investigating!

Thankyou - that's just the kind of info I needed. Think we'll give it a swerve this year and try to book earlier next year then!

I had thought about Austria, it looks amazing - but we will have to drive because we take our own tent, and my husband doesn't want to go that far (he has to drive as I have eye issues).

The last 2 summers have been very hot in France - like the UK and not typical so I'm not sure if anyone can say how the end of August might be

Last year we had 35 degrees plus in Brittany in between 2 very wet spells - which isn't typical

Can you look at being slightly outside Annecy at all - and at the larger sites run by the big chains?
