Is Universal Studios worth it with a 3 year old

Hi all

We have a 10 night trip planned to celebrate my DS 3rd birthday. I've booked a 14 day Disney park pass and was also looking to book a 3 day Universal Studios pass.

I'm now trying to decide whether it's really worth booking Universal. I can get the tickets 50% off so it'll cost $444 but equally might be nice to spend that money elsewhere.

There's only a handful of rides little one could do. There's a few rides I'd like to do (parent swap) but feel like I can easily leave it and maybe do them when we return when little one is older.

Do you have experience of visiting both sets of parks with similar aged child please.

@Dinoswearunderpants if you think you'll be going back, imo, I'd save your money this time.

This site gives an idea of which rides would be ok for your little one.

Have a fantastic time, Disneyworld is completely magical.

Universal Orlando only has seven rides with a height requirement of 34 inches or less. For comparison, the Magic Kingdom has 12+ rides that don’t require a height requirement at all.

Only 10 nights and you already have the Disney pass - I wouldn’t bother with universal. It’s mostly about big rides that won’t be suitable for a three year old for a very long time, and the bits that are aimed at younger children really aren’t worth the ticket price. You’ll have plenty to do with all the Disney parks.

I would just stick with Disney. Universal is amazing and unmissable with older kids, but not enough for little ones.

Depends on height but you're probably restricted to the carousel type rides, possibly the hippogriff. It's not worth it.

Stick to Disney. I have said before Universal is more for 6 or 7 + in my opinion. A 3 year old won't get anything out for it for the price you pay. Stick to Disney, do it properly, don't rush it and you will have an amazing time.

Thanks everything, I think I knew the answer but just needed others to tell me so I didn't get FOMO lol

Nope. It’s super expensive and very restrictive with a three-year-old. A lot of the rides are also very interactive and much better enjoyed with the whole family than on your own. I don’t think Universal is worth it for under fives/sixes.

Ditto everyone else's comments. It's the main reason we stayed in the Universal area when we went because DD was 16 and it was more her cup of tea.

That's quite an extravagant clebration for a three year old.

First birthday we were in Jamaica. Second birth in Corfu. We like to celebrate birthdays abroad :-)
