Are we crazy to take bonkers 20 month old to posh hotel?

Haven't had a holiday in ages.
Have convinced DH to book a posh hotel in Yorkshire, they say they are child friendly but what can I really expect?
Will we relax or will I end up making excuses for DS doing rolypolys in reception?

if they are child friendly they will love your little one doing rolypolies in reception.. and you will smile and laugh with everyone else..

I think it is a great idea dn DH and I have taken the kids away to smart places that are family friendly it has been fabulous.

Enjoy!

We have stayed in a posh hotel. They cooked DS lovely macaroni cheese, which he threw off the high chair and chuckled indulgently when he ran around.

Be careful for other guests though, they have paid a lot of money to have a relaxing break so probably don't want your DS running round too much. We coped with this by taking parents with us ( although they didn't turn out to be as useful as we hoped and just moaned about being cold all the time) and exhausting DS with lots of activities during the day.

In my experience (which is enormous because dd and I tagged along on a lot of work trips with dp when she was little) you want to go for really posh or incredibly cheap and cheerful. It's the mid range hotels with delusions of grandeur that have problems with children.

I have delightful memories of dd making firm friends with our own personal butler on one particularly whizzy trip - he brought her fish fingers and a glass of milk on a silver tray with a dome and had the most wonderful grandfatherly twinkle!

seeker, DH and I have said that a few times.. we have a great B&B we know in scarborough that is about £30 a night for the room and it is lovely home from home environment. great with the kids
problems in marriot / big chain style trying to be something they are not.

No problems in more expensive exclusive hotels.

Thanks guys. It is an expensive place (we got a late deal, could never afford it usually!) with a really nice looking children's menu and I've found a few reviews from people who've taken their LO with them and all seems fine.
DS is lively but not naughty but as he's such an outdoor boy we intend to wear him out in the grounds so (hopefully) all he does when he's inside is eat, sleep and play lego!

If it is Swinton Park you will be fine, my kids loved it.
