Please give me your suggestions of islands / resorts / even hotels as I am just going round in circles with my inability to choose...

It'll be me, DH and 2 teens for a week at the end of August. We want:
Beautiful and green
Sandy beach within easy walking distance
Easy to get around (too scared to drive abroad Blush)
Not too busy but not too quiet!

Oh and not too expensive... <hollow laugh>

Thanks!

I was just about to suggest Agios Gordios in Corfu on the west coast. So beautiful, sandy beach, loads of nice restaurants, some bars, half an hour on bus to Corfu town which is my favourite island capital. We have stayed a couple of times at Stevens on the Hill. Crete is also lovely but for greenery there is no comparison with Corfu.

We stayed there a couple of times at the hotel on the beach (Sea Breeze I think it was called)

@Blueberrycreampie we've booked the Bel air in Nidri. We were in Parga in September and lots of people raved about Lefkada. And it's cheaper.

stayed in George's in Nidri on 2018 with my then 13 year old DS. He says it's one of his favourite holidays and he wanted to go back - then covid struck and now he's too old to what a holiday with his mum.
I really likes it. Beach isn't great but we had a pool. Nice choice of bars and tavernas along the port.
I also stayed in Parga in 2016. Another place I'd go back to.

I love the greek islands. It's been a long time since I've been and no way can I afford it at the moment. Enjoy!

Corfu was by far the greenest I've been too. The windy roads are an experience!
Loved Crete (and been back many times) but I would describe it as 'green'.

Rhodes too. Lovely. You are very lucky!

All are lovely. My favourite is Crete. But it's very very hot every times I've been. I've stayed all over. All wonderful places.

Thanks so much for all the info! It got my head spinning again, anyway the upshot is I let my DD browse on booking . com for a bit and she persuaded DH to pay for a villa a mile or so outside of Skiathos town which is in the middle of nowhere and by a shingly beach. So budget blown, half of the criteria not met... and we are so excited!

We stayed at Nidri - loved it and wouldn't really want to stay anywhere else on Lefkada!

We like Rhodes. It has fabulous beaches, especially where the two seas meet. Rhodes town is lovely, there are harbour side restaurants and bars, an excellent market and Rhodes old town is full of history. Lindos town is gorgeous and worth a visit.

Blueberrycreampie · 30/01/2024 23:58

@SamW98 We there there 2018 too - Hotel Yiannis.

Babla · 31/01/2024 00:44

Crete Corfu or Rhodes town all lovely

thebestinterest · 31/01/2024 00:54

We loved Corfu. We rented a car, although it did seem to have a well connected bus system.

You won’t regret it, Skiathos is fabulous. The time is full of life
Definitely do a day trip to Skopelos. There are plenty of organised trips from the port but we just got the 10.15 ferry and did our own thing.

Enjoy I’m jealous

@MotherBuckets Oh gosh, the wild card option :D I hope you have a lovely time!

Sounds brill

our neighbours go somewhere just like that each year and love it

go to the road by the airport runway and watch the planes take off it’s hilarious - we waved at all the plane geeks from the plane. Google it 😂

highly recommend :
Parissi vineyard as mentioned above
Skopelos day trip
Marmita restaurant in Skiathos Town
Exantas bar and restaurant Megali Ammos beach

Lilacshade · 31/01/2024 13:57

One of our best holidays was a two centre one in Skiathos and Skopolos.
Corfu, lovely as it is, has the airport from hell.

We stayed in the hill overlooking the town and watched the planes landing from our sun loungers

Our favourite bar in town was Anderssons but that’s more an adults place than with teens. Still a good place for a night cap

Skopelos is a must and getting the bus to the various beaches is also recommended, especially with teens in tow.
